Contemporary Classical Artist

In addition to Ms. Tamborini’s work in the standard repertoire, she is also actively involved in contemporary classical music. She became invested in contemporary classical music at Stony Brook University where she was a member of the Contemporary Chamber Players, having the opportunity to perform pieces such as Reich’s “Music for 18 Musicians,” Xenakis’s “À hélène,” Mackey’s “Moebius Band,” and John Cage’s “Litany for the Whale.”

As a performer, Ms. Tamborini collaborates with artists writing pieces that are both challenging musically and in terms of subject matter and message. Using her voice to amplify societal issues allows her to authentically engage with audiences. She recently performed Eliza Brown’s “In the Age of the Rise,” three songs imagining life in the future of climate change for soprano, flute, clarinet, percussion, piano, violin and cello, premiered at Roulette in Brooklyn, NY. Additionally, she worked with composer Niloufar Nourbakhsh on her piece “The Darkness of the Womb,” with text coming from Valeri Kaur’s speech that portrays a mother, sister, descendant of immigrants, and member of a family victimized by racism and intolerance. She continues to work with living composers such as Chelsea Loew, composer of “This Living Hand.”
